Edgar and Miner is a locally owned and operated floor covering store in Victoria BC. The store was opened in 1970 by original owners Dave Edgar and Jim Miner, who sold the company to two employees, Jos de Bruin and Wayne Carson. Jos and Wayne owned the company for over 20 years before deciding to sell to long time employees Jim and Tom McClymont.
The store initially started out dealing in mostly residential, but expanded over the years to included commercial projects. Today, we work side by side with contractors, interior designers, government agencies as well as the general public.
Tom McClymont
I have been in the floor covering industry since 1979 starting out as a journeyman helper. I spent the next 5 years installing various types of flooring and decided to take a shot at the sales end of the business in 1984 with the original owners Dave Edgar & Jim Miner. This suited me very well and I spent the next 21 years as a sales representative before purchasing the shares of Edgar & Miner along with my brother Jim in 2005. I have enjoyed the journey up until now and look forward to many more good years in this great business.
Jim McClymont
I have been in the business for 27 years. I started out as a floor layers apprentice in 1984 and from there worked my way into sales in 1989. My brother Tom and I joined forces in 2005 and purchased the company.
Les Bryan
I have been in the flooring industry for 7 years and in sales for over 25 years. I was born and raised in Victoria and have also lived in Vancouver and Dallas Texas. In my spare time I am the Vice President of the Victoria Rebels Football team. I am also on the Board of Directors for the Mount Doug Alumni as well as a High school volleyball coach at Reynolds School.
Brendan McClymont
I have been in the floor covering industry for 4 Years. I spent the first year as the warehouse manager and after that I moved into sales. In my three years in sales, I have learned to specialize in ICC Insurance work but I also cover the commercial and residential side as well. I have enjoyed every aspect of the flooring industry so far and look forward to continuing the journey.
Michael McClymont
I have been in the flooring industry for 5 years. I started out as the warehouse manager here at Edgar and Miner. A year later the opportunity to venture into an installation position arose. I worked as an installer for 2 years and enjoyed every aspect of it. In 2008 I joined the sales team, commercially and residentially. For the last 2 years now I have extremely enjoyed assisting existing clients and look forward to working with future ones.
Jos De Bruin
With over 40 years of experience and as the previous owner of Edgar and Miner, I have seen it all. I now specialize in commercial projects and am available by appointment only.
Catherine Fryer
I've been the bookkeeper/office manager at Edgar and Miner since July 2001.They are a great bunch of guys to work with. When I'm not there I have diverse interests such as genealogical research, native plant gardening, knitting for my grandchildren and black powder target shooting.
